That's a grim thought - not only from a water supply standpoint, but from a wildfire standpoint as well.

The cycle is very decadal, as could be expected from the El Nino Southern Oscillation influence. The big take-home is that the droughts of the 1930s, 50s, and 80s were exceeded in duration and magnitude several times in the last 800 years. For water-planning purposes, it helps to know what the 'worst-case scenario' really is - and the Dust Bowl is definitely not it!

Nice! For my MS I studied old trees in the Big Horn Basin to reconstruct 800 years of precip/streamflow. Such a great place to do research!

Your 3D rendering looks better than photographs! Fantastic images of a land watered by mad rivers and confused reservoirs where they put the dams on the wrong end of the drainage.
